During a Saturday morning viewing of "Stepmom" on the ABC Family Channel, a conversation between my roommate - who we've affectionately nicknamed 'Dumpling' - and myself...

Me: "I love when things get dramatic on TV and the kid gets to yell 'Shut up, you're not my real mom/dad.' Cliched, yet awesome."

Dumpling: "Yeah. See, this is why I could never adopt. Because then they could yell things like that at me. And they'd be right, and I'd feel awful... But I still want a black baby someday."

*It should be noted that Dumpling is half Thai, half Chinese, and 100% awesome. The real test is how much time will elapse before she realizes I'm exposing her on the worldwideweb.

Feeling a lot of pressure to kick things off with a little brilliance but I just spent 4 hours watching delightfully mindless teen soaps, so I've got visions of starlets dancing in my head and not much else.  This leaves me with the eternal Saturday morning/afternoon question: what's for brunch?

I'm bored of my go-tos in the Haight, my absolutes favorites (Zazie and Universal Cafe) would require more ambition than I'm packing right now, so I'm at a loss. I'll leave it up to my loyal followers (attn: Molly and Kim):  who's got a groundbreaking, undiscovered, gem of a brunch option?
